Other Volunteering Opportunities
There are opportunities to volunteer in both local or nation schemes.
In addition to getting involved with our street link and shopping programmes, there are lots of other ways that you can volunteer to help too.
For some that may be right now in helping to manage the crisis, for others there will be roles in the weeks and months to come.
But for many of us, the most helpful thing we can do to support our NHS and our communities is to stay at home to save lives.
You can only volunteer to carry out tasks which involve leaving your home, if you are not required to be isolating and are not in any risk categories.
Local Volunteering Opportunities
The telephone befriending service is being operated by the North Berwick Health and Wellbeing Association.
Carol Stobie is the Community Connections Project Worker for North Berwick. She has set up a befriending service to help people who feel lonely and isolated for a variety of reasons. Due to the Coronavirus situation, the project has become a telephone befriending service, linking up people with a volunteer who will phone regularly for a friendly chat.
